Dave Shiring, Nutrition for Health

BizEnergize Featured Presenter for January

Dave Shiring, Nutrition for Health!

Learn Ways to Improve Your Health and Lower Your Food Cost!

BizEnergize Featured Presenter Dave ShiringA Certified Public Accountant, Dave Shiring left KPMG as a manager in Information Systems consulting group to begin a thirty year career as financial consultant, controller, or chief financial officer for both public and private companies.

In both his controller and chief financial officer roles he had significant influence in the selection of healthcare plans, premium determinations, deductibles, and pharmaceutical formulary lists.

Insurance costs were exploding.  As a senior executive, he believed it was critical that management ask the right questions.  He realized that while plans, premiums and deductibles were important, he should have been asking “why are our employees needing more healthcare?”

This led him to view health through a completely different lens.

Now through public speaking he helps people understand how they can improve their health while lowering their food cost, and employers understand how they can promote healthy behavior to reduce healthcare claims expense.

Shiring earned a degree in electrical engineering from Penn State University and a Masters of Business Administration from Arizona State University where he received the Outstanding Graduate Business Student Award.

In 2002, he completed the White Rock Lake marathon.  He won his age category in the 2012 Renaissance Tower (54 floors) “Fight for Air” race, and at the age of 67 years young, passed the US Navy Physical Fitness Exam for a 22 year old.

Business Networking Just Got Better!

BizEnergize Dallas…All Powered Up!…

Business-boosting in an upbeat format… It’s on!Business Networking with Biz Energize

Recently, a group of local business professionals launched a high-energy forum for business networking.  Plus, they procure and share useful content.  Feature topics explore small business trends such as video, branding, digital photography and social media.  Live  interviews go in-depth to provide useful branding and media tools.  Come to network, leave with take-away ideas and content for social media.  Enjoy meeting friends, seeing live broadcasts, interesting interviews, panels and more.

Tell us who or what you want to see!

Technology tools continually excite us, yet our secret sauce in BizEnergize is high-quality connections.  This format promotes connections worth making based on shared business values.  Values enable worthwhile business networking.  Some of the core values we seek and promote include:

Courage – As courage requires action, it enables all our other values.  Courage helps us to do the right next thing and do the next thing right.  Without courage, the right thing may not happen!

Service –  Success with customers builds relationships, alliances and referral partnerships.  Excellent service presents new opportunity and delights a referral giver.  Positive customer experiences build trust.  Service matters in countless ways!

Contribution – At its worst, business networking devolves to a business card exchange while pitching to each other.  Most people don’t want to be pitched.  Contribute by simply helping others connect.

Curiosity – When someone we meet only seems interested getting their card in our hand and telling us what they do, we tend to quickly forget them!  The card gets tossed due to a forgettable interaction.  When we meet someone who seems interested, they naturally also seem interesting. So, then rapport builds. Curiosity creates connection.

Remarkable – In our crowded, noisy world of business, marketing and social media, every business is easily missed.  Even a really good business struggles to be noticed.  Being good matters, yet in marketing, being remarkable gets noticed.  Remarkable goes viral, gets huge and changes everything!

BE Energized with Biz Energize!

First, we ditched traditional business card exchanging and 30-second commercials. When allowed to get to know each other on our own terms, naturally, we listen better and learn more.  Given more quality time, we find ways to help each other.

Business Mixer Location: Blue Martini Lounge, Plano TX

To our delight, this format attracts growth-oriented professionals.  As a result, all types of dynamic business people are getting involved.  So, I’m getting energized!
